Hap and Leonard<\/a>\u2019s third season \u2014 despite taking place in the 80s, and the novel on which it\u2019s based being written in the 90s \u2014 turned out to be surprisingly and terribly relevant to current events. As Hap (James Purefoy) and Leonard (Michael K. Williams) ventured to and from Grovetown in search of Florida (Tiffany Mack<\/strong>) and the truth of what happened there, the show gave us a raw and often horrifying view of racism and hate.\u00a0Hap and Leonard<\/em>\u00a0has always succeeded because of its authenticity, whether that means the study of its East Texas location, the brotherhood between its leads, or in holding a mirror up to society. And yet, as crazy as\u00a0Hap and Leonard<\/em>\u00a0can also sometimes be, Season 3 never felt like it was going overboard, especially because this story was so specifically grounded in villains who felt real to life. There was nothing extraordinary about Truman Brown (Pat Healy<\/strong>) and his cronies, or the evil that persisted in Grovetown. They are a kind of everyday evil. As Hanson (Cranston Johnson<\/strong>) is reminded, they\u2019re human \u2014 even if they don\u2019t act like it.<\/b><\/i><\/p>\n

Hap and Leonard<\/b><\/i>\u00a0is an American television drama series based on the characters\u00a0Hap and Leonard<\/a>, created by novelist\u00a0Joe R. Lansdale<\/a>[1]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0and adapted from his series of novels of the same name.[2]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0The series was written and developed by\u00a0Nick Damici<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Jim Mickle<\/a>, who had previously adapted Lansdale’s\u00a0Cold in July<\/a><\/i>\u00a0and was directed by Mickle.[1]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0The series premiered on the American cable network\u00a0SundanceTV<\/a>\u00a0on March 2, 2016.[1]<\/a><\/sup>[3]<\/a><\/sup>\u00a0So far, the series has received favorable reviews.[4]<\/a><\/sup>[5]<\/a><\/sup>[6]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n

The series was renewed for a six-episode third season which premiered on March 7, 2018. The third season is inspired by the third novel in the\u00a0Hap and Leonard<\/i>\u00a0series, titled\u00a0The Two-Bear Mambo<\/a><\/i>.[7]<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n
