In spring 1939,\u00a0Sara Delano, the mother of\u00a0Franklin D. Roosevelt, asks his sixth cousin\u00a0Margaret “Daisy” Suckley\u00a0to visit the ill President at their\u00a0country estate\u00a0in\u00a0Hyde Park, New York. Although Daisy and Roosevelt had not seen each other for years, the distant relatives form a romantic relationship, and Roosevelt often asks Daisy to visit Hyde Park when he stays with his mother. Daisy becomes one of the several women close to Roosevelt, including Sara;\u00a0Missy LeHand, the president’s secretary; and\u00a0Eleanor, the president’s wife. Bill Murray turns in a perfectly mannered, whimsical performance as FDR and is very ably supported by an award-worthy cast that includes Laura Linney and Olivia Williams. It’s funny, yes, but it’s not a laugh riot, nor is it meant to be.
